Former NFL QB Ryan Leaf compares himself to Johnny Manziel

Troubled former Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel was formally indicted on domestic violence charges in Texas on Tuesday following an alleged assault on his ex-girlfriend, according to court records. On Tuesday night, hours after he was indicted, Manziel returned to Cleveland to attend the Justin Bieber concert with Browns cornerback Joe Haden and Haden's wife Sarah. Colleen Crowley accused Manziel of hitting and accosting her in January. Crowley said she was still restrained as Manziel led her to the hotel's valet, where she cried: "Please don't let him take me". The two drove to where her vehicle was parked in front of a Dallas bar, she said in an affidavit.

"They want to do the right thing", Hinton said of prosecutors.

As of now, Manziel is ordered to stay away from his former girlfriend, Colleen Crowley, who is the alleged victim in this case.

Attorney Robert Hinton, who is representing Manziel, has told The Associated Press that both sides will meet with a judge to set a bond, and Manziel will be booked, most likely for a brief time.

Manziel's family violence case was heard by a grand jury last Thursday. His future in the National Football League is uncertain, and it might be nonexistent without a second stint in treatment that two agents have demanded. She says Manziel threw her on the bed and restrained her, preventing her from leaving the room. Lawyers watching the case say the $1,500 bond is consistent with the misdemeanor charge Manziel faces.

The indictment for a class-A misdemeanour charged Manziel with hitting Crowley and forcing her into a vehicle.

Manziel was released by the Browns this offseason after two tumultuous years. The judge said that he is fine with Manziel turning himself in sometime next week. His marketing agency dropped him, and last week, Nike did too.
