"Mommy I love you", Eddie's first message read.

Screenshots appear to show the tragic messages sent to Mrs. Justice's phone.

She sent a flurry of texts over the next several minutes.

Terrified, he told her he thought he was going to die.

Then at 2:08: "I'm gonna die".

"Call them mommy", Eddie replied.

She shared the text message exchange with the Associated Press, in which her son told her that he was trapped in the bathroom at Pulse, and asked her to call the police.

"I'm tell I'm bathroom (sic). He's coming. I'm gonna die", Eddie wrote.

Justice asked what club, and he responded: "Pulse".

She asked: "Is the man in the bathroom wit u?"

"No. Still here. In bathroom. He has us. They need to come get us", Eddie said.

Eddie's correspondence with his mother was cut off just before 3am. She had no idea whether the gunman had entered the bathroom or if he'd been rescued by police.

"Text me please", she texted.

"Hurry", he wrote. "He's in the bathroom with us". Mina Justice received the first text message at 2:06 a.m.

A mother has released the heartbreaking text exchange she had with her son last night as he was trapped in Pulse nightclub in Orland, Florida - the scene of the worst mass shooting in US history. She wondered what kind of danger her son was in.

Fifty people were killed and another 53 injured in the massacre, which has become the deadliest shooting in United States history.

Police identified the gunman as Omar Mateen, a 29-year-old Muslim American of Afghan descent who was born and raised in NY.

For three hours he held hostages inside the building, as police prepared to storm the building.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

His father, Mir Seddique, believes the shooting was not an act of terror. "This had nothing to do with religion".

"We were in downtown Miami, Bayside, people were playing music", the father told NBC News in the immediate aftermath if the shooting.

The attack became the worst mass shooting in modern United States history in front of the Virginia Tech massacre, which claimed 32 lives, and the Sandy Hook Elementary shootings, which killed 27 people.
