Federer makes Wimbledon semifinals for 12th time — The Latest”

The American knocked out Andy Murray in five sets to reach the semifinals.

Both of them are two-time champions at the All England Club, and both of them are now out of the tournament.

In another huge development, three-time champion Novak Djokovic retired to hand over a semifinal passage to Czech Tomas Berdych. He won his only major title three years ago in New York, beating Roger Federer in the semifinals and Kei Nishikori in the final.

Novak Djokovic after the defeat of Andy Murray got a chance after Wimbledon once again become the world first racquet. He also had a trainer work on his right shoulder near the end of his fourth-round victory on Tuesday.

The last semi-finalist is Marin Cilic. If Djokovic does not win Wimbledon, then Nadal would be the leader in the clubhouse for the top seed at the U.S. Open.

The defending champion faded in his match against the fresher looking American tennis player. Cilic defeated Gilles Müller of Luxembourg 3-6, 7-6 (6), 7-5, 5-7, 6-1 on Thursday to advance to the last four.

"I'm still in shock myself", Querrey, 29, said after the match.

"Andy, Sam is the first American player to reach the semi-final of a Slam since 2009". Querrey beat him in the quarterfinals.

The fifth set followed a similar plot line, lasting 27 minutes as Murray won just one point off the American's serve. He entered the tournament after pulling out of two exhibition matches citing a sore left hip. Cilic is 4-0 all-time against Querrey.

During this year's Wimbledon he called on schedulers to give women more opportunities to play on Wimbledon's main show courts, which have featured a disproportionately high number of men's matches.

Speaking on the possibility of holding the trophy, Querrey said, "I'm going to focus on the semifinal match". It was the first time at this tournament that Raonic was held under 20 aces.

Now Querrey's on-court accomplishment Wednesday will make headlines. The 31-year-old hasn't been nearly as dominant, as he needed four sets to get past Jeremy Chardy and Ryan Harrison, and five to up-end Dominic Thiem.
