Lochte cleared of charges in Rio gas station fiasco”

According to USA Today, Lochte had been charged with "falsely communicating a crime to authorities" due to his "exaggerated" retelling of events.

In the interview, Lochte said he had a gun put to his forehead and he and fellow swimmers Gunnar Bentz, Jack Conger and Jimmy Feigen were robbed at a Shell gas station.

He has won every set he's played in this year's tournament and while he did not dominate the semifinal, he was never in much trouble.

Prosecutors could still challenge the ruling, and they have 15 days to do so.

"We are pleased that the court has finally dismissed the criminal prosecution against Mr. Lochte, while at the same time, appropriately recognizing that he committed no crime", the athlete's attorney Jeff Ostrow said in a statement to the outlet.

The investigation found that Lochte and has teammates had been detained by armed security guards, who drew their weapons and demanded that the swimmers pay them money for the alleged vandalism at the gas station.

Reporting after the fact seems to indicate the truth is nestled somewhere in between, but that's now very far beside the point-Lochte apologized and told Brazil's Jornal Nacional that his story was a hefty embellishment, chalked up to some combination of booze and immaturity.

An appeals court reversed a lower court's decision Thursday, ruling that Brazilian law was not broken, USA Today said. His suspension left him unable to compete at last month's U.S. nationals, making him ineligible for the world championships later this month in Budapest.

It was as if getting out of that jam freed up Muguruza - and failing to capitalize on the opportunity deflated Williams.

Serena is off the tour for the rest of this year because she is pregnant, and Venus spoke about wanting to earn a trophy for the family name.

As details supporting Lochte's account emerged, he picked up new sponsors and took a spot on Dancing with the Stars last fall. On Sunday, Federer will face 2014 U.S. Open champion Marin Cilic, who reached his first final at the All England Club by eliminating 24th-seeded Sam Querrey of the U.S. 6-7 (6), 6-4, 7-6 (3), 7-5 with the help of 25 aces and some terrific returning.
