Newspaper Mistakes Footy Star For Gangsta Rapper”

The mistake went viral yesterday as social media users shared an image of the article, which was headlined "Lukaku is ready for work", referencing the player's £75 million move from Everton to Manchester United.

After commanding this summer's highest transfer fee, you would think new Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku's face would be fairly recognisable.

Backpage of Irish newspaper The Herald doesn't boast a huge photo of the Belgium international, but of grime artist Stormzy in a United tracksuit instead.

Stormzy later confirmed to a fan that he agrees he looks like Lakaku.

But his comments soon triggered a debate over whether the Irish Herald had been racist. Me, him, Stormzy and Pogs are currently jamming in my mum's basement doing the Pogbonce'.

Stormzy himself has reacted angrily to the confusion, and tweeted: 'I don't find none of this funny - don't wanna sound like the party pooper who missed the joke'.

An apology was quickly issued, with editor Alan Steenson posting on the paper's website: "Hands up, we got it badly wrong".

Earlier, we made an error with a picture of Romelu Lukaku that wasn't him. It was Stormzy. To be honest, we are totally embarrassed and want to say sorry to all involved and our readers for the error. We will keep our eye on the ball in future'.

And when one follower hit back telling the rapper to "get a sense of humour", Stormzy replied: "Lol wouldn't expect you to get it pal".
