Spain's Queen Letizia rivals Kate in the style stakes on London visit”

Queen Elizabeth is currently hosting her Spanish counterpart, King Felipe VI, on a State Visit to the UK, along with his wife Queen Letizia.

I know that the First Secretary will be delighted to see that Parliament Square now displays every flag of every British overseas territory to welcome the King of Spain this week - including the flag of Gibraltar.

She married Prince Felipe in 2004, but she only became Queen in 2014, after her father-in-law, King Juan Carlos abdicated the throne. Spain, however, continues to press its claims to the territory.

While Kate must bow to blood princesses, the Countess of Wessex, Sophie, must curtsy to Kate, even when William is not with her.

In response, Chief Minister Picardo accused Spain of ignoring Gibraltar's voice, and that it should be the most important during talks about its own future.

The body inside the tomb is that of a soldier exhumed from either the Aisne, the Somme, Arras or Ypres - Brigadier General L.J. Wyatt, the General Officer in charge of troops in France and Flanders looked at the bodies, covered with Union Jacks, and chose one to be buried in Westminster Abbey.

During their meeting, Mrs May is expected to pay tribute to Spanish banker Ignacio Echeverria, who died trying to save a woman from an attacker in the London Bridge terror attack.

A Spaniard was among eight people killed in an attack by three Islamist sympathisers wielding knives and wearing fake suicide vests in the London Bridge area last month.

They will then visit Exeter college, where a professorship in Spanish is named after Felipe's great-grandfather, Alfonso XIII, and meet Spanish students and academics. Letizia and the Duchess of Cambridge were both commoners before marrying into their respective royal families - and both women have brought a fashion-forward feel to their roles.

The Queen also hosted a lavish state banquet at Buckingham Palace on Wednesday evening. Both royal lines are descended from Queen Victoria.

Letizia is the eldest daughter of Jesús José Ortiz Álvarez and María de la Paloma Rocasolano Rodríguez.
