Greg Abbott's campaign on Monday reported raising more than $10 million June 19-30, leaving the campaign with $40.8 million in the bank.

The Texas Legislature spent much of the 2017 session grappling over whether to pass a law disallowing transgender students to use the bathroom where they feel most comfortable, requiring these students to instead use the restroom that correlates with their birth certificates.

Over a thousand teachers met outside the State Capitol building in Austin on Monday and held a rally to voice their concerns over education in Texas.

A similar law in North Carolina, partially repealed in March, prompted the relocation of sporting events and economic boycotts that was estimated to have cost the state hundreds of millions of dollars.

"The mainstream faith communities in this state cringe when they hear that violent, hateful language so they vacate the field and leave it to extreme people", said Bee Moorhead, executive director of Texas Impact, which represents religious congregations from across the faith and political spectrum.

The bathroom bill's main backer, Republican Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick, a social conservative who sets the state Senate's legislative agenda, has said economic losses would be inconsequential.

"The Attorney General can only opine on what's actually in the law".

The Texas Tribune is a nonprofit, nonpartisan media organization that informs Texans - and engages with them - about public policy, politics, government and statewide issues.

The cities of Houston, San Antonio, Dallas, Austin, Fort Worth, Midland and Odessa saw noticeable increases in sales tax allocations, Hegar said. This meant Abbott was required to protect these trees from being harmed by the construction.

The "bathroom" bill is the legislation that won't die.

"We have to do something to save our mothers", Thierry said.

The stakes are higher in Texas, which has an economy larger than Russia's.

"We are and will continue to aggressively and robustly support members of the Legislature who support us", Abbott's chief strategist, Dave Carney, said in an interview.
