Amber Alert canceled for Richardson 3-year-old, child still missing”

Wesley Mathews told investigators he last saw his 3-year-old daughter, Sherin, at around 3 a.m. Saturday at the family's home in Richardson, Texas.

The father did not notify the police that his daughter was missing until about five hours later, police said, adding that the delay in reporting the matter "is certainly concerning to us".

Police said Mathews told detectives he directed the girl to stand by a tree near the family's house because she would not drink her milk. She has limited verbal communication skills.

Mr Mathews was arrested on Saturday on a charge of abandoning or endangering a child. He was taken into custody on Saturday after reporting the incident to authorities and has been released on bond, according to police in Richardson, north of Dallas.

A police spokesperson wrote on Facebook: 'We are now looking for a three-year-old child.

As of Monday morning, police are still searching for Sherin Mathews who is believed to be in grave or immediate danger, KTVT reports.

Mathews said when he returned 15 minutes later, the little girl was gone.

Sherin's father, allegedly told police that he asked his 3-YO child to stand by a tree near an alley as punishment over the milk dispute.

NBC DFW reports ( that CPS says they have had "contact" with the Mathews family before, but "details are confidential". That's the question we want answered as well.

Sherin was last seen October 7 wearing a pink top and black pajama bottoms.

The Amber alert for the case was discontinued because of lack of leads. They also noted that the back of the home faces train tracks. Mathews told investigators it wasn't unusual for the girl to wake up late at night to eat so that her weight would increase, Perlich said.
