Disney says its streaming service is going to cost less than Netflix”

Disney may not be done with their discussions to acquire 20th Century Fox yet. The proposed deal would see Fox giving up many of its entertainment franchises such as those based on Marvel comics so that the media company could prioritize news and sports. It is expected that all Disney content, including releases from Marvel, Star Wars, and Pixar, will eventually disappear from Netflix and be solely available to stream on the new platform.

The outlets notes that while thew two companies have not been engaged in conversations at the moment, "it does appear at the very least that they have not abandoned the idea of that combination". For reference, the cost of a Netflix subscription currently ranges from $8 to $14 a month. If this deal goes through, though, Disney would then control international broadcasting assets like Sky and Star, along with American cable networks like FX and National Geographic.

On the other hand, one could make the case that Disney's inability to use standard favorites forces them to look elsewhere and bring lesser-known heroes to the screen like the Guardians of the Galaxy, which put a nice twist on the genre. "But it'll simply launch with less volume, and the price will reflect that".
