Rogic & Celtic knocked out of Champions League”

1-1, McGregor 74'. 1-2, Martínez 77'.

The upcoming clash at Dortmund and next month's Champions League tie against PSG are Bayern's main tests before Christmas.

"The disappointment in the dressing room really shows how well we played", said Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers.

DF David Alaba, 8 - Much improved under Heynckes and has forged a promising partnership with Kingsley Coman down the Bayern left.

The Scottish champions remain favourites to clinch third spot and a Europa League place ahead of Anderlecht, who they host on matchday six, following their win in Belgium earlier in the campaign. It was a different story here, and they could have led in the fifth minute.

"But, by the same token, you have to get on the front foot and try to win because the fans will demand it". Celtic's good work was undone, however, when Dedryck Boyata hesitated and let Bayern keeper Sven Ulreich's punt go over his head.

Shaw is probably just as talented as Tierney but crucially the Scot has so far displayed a superior mentality, which is often the difference between players of that age achieving their potential or not.

The Scotland international has made the left-back position his own at Parkhead and he is tipped for a bright future.

Celtic continued their positive display into the second half. The winger's clever chipped ball to the back post appeared to catch everyone by surprise including the recipient, Stuart Armstrong, with the midfielder somehow poking the ball wide from five yards out.

The former Dundee United midfielder then had a drive tipped over by Ulreich. Forrest created the opportunity with more electrifying footwork and a clever pass to McGregor, who kept calm and drilled the ball through Ulreich.

The equaliser when it came was more than deserved, although it was questionable defending from Bayern.

Juventus missed the chance to close in on group leaders FC Barcelona after they drew 1-1 with Sporting Lisbon. Martínez showed great bravery in jumping up to head in Alaba's cross whilst having to content with in the air with Nir Bitton.

It's not just Liverpool, though, with four of the Premier League's top six set to be in attendance, with Arsenal, Tottenham, and Manchester United scouts also set to be at tonight's Champions League tie and the Record claiming a total of 17 English clubs will be watching.
