Democrat plans to force impeachment vote against Trump this week”

Pelosi and Hoyer said in a statement that while legitimate questions exist about Trump's fitness to lead, now is not the time for impeachment. Voting prematurely forces Democrats facing re-election in tough districts to go on the record about their desire to impeach Trump, leaving them with a sort of Catch-22: If they vote to kill the resolution, they risk alienating the blue half of their voters; if they vote to proceed, they risk alienating the other half.

"This is not about Democrats, it is about democracy".

The top two Democrats in the House of Representatives came out Wednesday against an effort to impeach President Trump, shortly before the House is expected to vote to kill the effort.

"For too long, we have allowed our civility to prevent us from confronting the invidious incivility of President Donald J. Trump", he said. The president blamed both sides for the violence, including counter-protesters, sparking criticism from many who saw it as an equivocal response. Instead, he argues that Trump has "brought disrepute, contempt, ridicule and disgrace on the presidency" and "sown discord among the people of the United States".

According to CNBC, Green said Trump is "unmindful of the high duties of his high office and the dignity and properties thereof".

While virtually all Republicans and many Democrats are expected to vote to table Green's resolution, a few Democrats said Wednesday they will vote for Green's measure.

House Democratic Caucus Chairman Joe Crowley also voted against the impeachment.

It is vital, however, that we distinguish impeachable offenses from offensive behavior, divisive political instincts, ineptitude, and poor judgment.

"That is why I was one of the first members of Congress to call for the appointment of a special counsel to investigate".

Green's articles of impeachment do not allege Trump has specifically committed a crime.

"Any discussion of impeachment before the completion of Robert Mueller's investigation is premature and not in the best interest of our nation", Correa said.

"Practically and politically, I think most of us can agree that passing articles of impeachment in this House isn't realistic at this moment in our history".

"I love my country".
