Democrats wary of House colleague's effort to impeach Trump”

Al Green, D-Texas, says he will force a vote on impeaching President Donald Trump as early as Wednesday, the Washington Examiner is reporting.

That means the actual question of impeachment wouldn't get a vote, according to NPR. Republicans are expected to offer a motion to table the resolution later Wednesday, effectively killing Green's resolution.

But Green and his fellows don't want to wait.

Most mainline Democrats believe that voting for impeachment is a premature move when the President is at the center of an ever expanding federal probe into whether anyone in his campaign colluded with Russia to influence the outcome of the presidential election.

A handful of Democrats introduced articles of impeachment against Trump in November, the first official step in the process.

"I will tell them I refuse to sit on the sidelines while the world is considering one of the great issues of our time", Green said.

"This is not about Democrats, it is about democracy. May everyone vote their conscience knowing that history will judge us all".

Democratic leaders are expected to oppose Green's resolution, but aides said they aren't whipping rank-and-file members on the measure. It does detail Trump's dalliances with the far right - including his failure to quickly denounce the white-nationalist marchers in Charlottesville - and his recent tweeting of anti-Muslim videos circulated by a British extremist group, as well as public acts and statements denigrating various groups and individuals.

Democratic leaders have urged Green to drop the idea, CNN said. "In doing this, hatred disguised as acceptable political correctness has festered in our body politic and polluted our discourse to our detriment. I will them that it's about democracy". "It divides and damages the social fabric of our country in ways that obstruction of justice cannot".

The calls for removing Mr Trump from office have created some discord throughout the Democratic party.
