Trump says he's got 'nothing to hide' on Flynn”

The non-partisan Joint Committee on Taxation projected it would add $US1 trillion to the deficit over a decade, disputing the insistence by Republicans that it would pay for itself through economic growth.

"With Flynn's plea deal, Mueller has nowhere to go but up the chain", Asha Rangappa, a former FBI agent now lecturing at Yale University, told Politico.

Peter Carr, a spokesman for Mueller, said Mueller removed Strzok from the team "immediately upon learning of the allegations".

What's more, while courts have ruled that laws prohibiting people from obstructing a "proceeding" apply to trials, grand juries and even U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission investigations, they haven't made a clear determination on whether they would even apply to FBI investigations. Not only was that request not criminal, it was the right thing to do.

He tweeted: "So General Flynn lies to the FBI and his life is destroyed, while Crooked Hillary Clinton, on that now famous FBI holiday 'interrogation' with no swearing in and no recording, lies many times.and nothing happens to her?"

Also in classic Trumpian fashion, the president took a small development and blew it entirely out of context.

FBI Director Christopher Wray reportedly sent a motivational email to FBI employees. Lindsey Graham, of South Carolina, said to tread lightly. "You tweet and comment regarding ongoing criminal investigations at your own peril".

Some left-wing pundits, who know better, are trotting out the Logan Act, which, if it were the law, would prohibit private citizens (including presidents-elect) from negotiating with foreign governments. "He has pled guilty to those lies".

Trump tweeted, "After years of Comey, with the phony and dishonest Clinton investigation (and more), running the FBI, its reputation is in Tatters - worst in History!"

All of which suggests there is, indeed, a reputation in tatters, but it doesn't belong to the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

As the president-elect, Donald Trump was constitutionally and politically entitled to try to protect his ability to broker a fair peace between the Israelis and Palestinians by urging all members of the Security Council to vote against or delay the enactment of the resolution. Former FBI Director James Comey has said Trump the following day brought up the Flynn investigation in private at the White House and told him he hoped he could "let this go", raising the possibility he knew Flynn had lied and was looking to cover up the offence. Comey testified that he "took it as a direction" to drop the probe into Flynn, but did not obey it. Trump had previously blamed the Feb. 13 firing on the fact that Flynn misled Vice President Mike Pence about his conversations with ambassador Sergey Kislyak during the presidential transition. Dowd declined to comment when reached by The Associated Press on Saturday night.

Hewitt called on the Department of Justice to "appoint a special counsel to investigate Strzok's actions as soon as possible". "Everyone thinks they're being recorded". In 1998, the House of Representatives impeached Clinton on charges of perjury and obstruction of justice related to a sexual harassment lawsuit. "And I see it most importantly in what happened with the firing of Director Comey, and it is my belief that that is directly because he did not agree to lift the cloud of the Russia investigation". But documents in his plea deal reveal that he built up contacts with Russians in London with the knowledge and support of his campaign supervisors.

Rep. Adam Schiff of California, the top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, said given that Mueller could have charged Flynn with more crimes but instead limited it to just one offence, "Bob Mueller must have concluded that he was getting a lot of value in terms of Gen. Flynn's co-operation".

I do not believe he will indict anyone under the Logan Act.
