Ashampoo Spectre Meltdown CPU Checker 1.0.7”

Intel Corp on Thursday said that recently issued patches for flaws in its chips could cause computers using its older Broadwell and Haswell processors to reboot more often than normal and that Intel may need to issue updates to fix the buggy patches.

Let's get straight to the point: Nvidia hasn't released an update to patch the Spectre vulnerability in its GPU hardware, despite recent reports from leading outlets claiming it's done just that.

The information covered three generations of processors, going back to 2015, running Microsoft's Windows 10 and Windows 7 computer operating systems. A selection of Arm Cortex-A and Cortex-R CPU core designs are vulnerable to the CVE-2017-5753 and CVE-2017-5715 Spectre vulnerabilities, but only one - the Cortex-A75 - is also vulnerable to the easily exploitable CVE-2017-5754 Meltdown flaw. For example, Microsoft's security update ended up rendering useless some PCs equipped with AMD chips, forcing them into a perpetual blue screen of death. The issues were detected by researchers from Google Project Zero, a division of Alphabet (NASDAQ: GOOGL) (NASDAQ: GOOG), working with academic and industry researchers from a number of different countries.

Microsoft gave a more pessimistic appraisal than Intel's initial assessments, particularly for servers that form the backbone of corporate networks.

The bottom line is that continued collaboration will create the fastest and most effective approaches to restoring customer confidence in the security of their data. The end result looks pretty cool as you're able to change perspectives as desired and freeze a scene so you can rotate the view for a better angle.

Intel CPUs can be exploited by hackers.

A Google spokesman said the company is set to announce its performance expectations for Android's chip flaw remedy as soon as Wednesday. He further stated that Intel is in an exploratory partnership with Paramount Pictures, for future movies to be shot with this technology.

This is of much greater consequence in these days of cloud computing where hardware is shared by numerous individuals and businesses.

Nvidia's GPUs are immune to the Spectre flaw. Krzanich also announced that it has made big strides in quantum computing, as it has delivered a 17-qubit superconducting test chip for quantum computing to QuTech, Intel's quantum research partner in the Netherlands. Finally, as a surprise to everyone present at the keynote, Krzanich gave a live demo of the Volvocopter - an autonomous copter designed to ferry passengers around a city.

While we believe that AMD's processor architectures make it difficult to exploit Variant 2, we continue to work closely with the industry on this threat. The company put the machines through SYSmark 2014 SE, PCMark 10, 3DMark Sky Diver, and WebXPRT 2015 both before and after the vulnerability mitigation patches.

GPZ Variant 2 (Branch Target Injection or Spectre) is applicable to AMD processors.

They discovered the vulnerabilities at the same time as the disclosure on January 3.
