Author of new book on Trump 'He is like a child'”

He later reports that Bannon said Trump only had a 33.3 per cent chance each of impeachment, survival or resigning "in the wake of a threat by the cabinet to act on the 25th Amendment".

Stephen Colbert took a more theatrical approach to mocking the president, imagining the president crying over his break-up with Bannon while sitting at his desk in the Oval Office. Trump threatened legal action, demanding that Holt withhold the book. Instead, the publisher moved up the release four days to Friday due to "overwhelming demand".

The book outlines three warring factions within the White House during the first half of the year. Now Sloppy Steve has been dumped like a dog by almost everyone.

The letters didn't stop the book, however.

On Thursday Rebekah Mercer issued a statement distancing her family from Bannon. "What they mean by that is he has a need for immediate gratification".

The book is already a top-seller, launching days early yesterday after Trump's White House failed to silence the book. So let me say very forthrightly: This book is not about Steve Bannon.

The White House has repeatedly denied collusion and labeled the Mueller probe a "witch hunt".

Michael Wolff's explosive new book "Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House", is said to give a detailed insight into the first nine months of Donald Trump's Presidency. "No reason to waste the president of the United States' time". That included Bannon, who was fired in mid-August, representing the right-wing populists at odds with the Republican establishment. "I never spoke to him for book", Trump tweeted.

Trump reacted to claims made in Michael Wolff's new book "Fire and Fury", tweeting, "Actually, throughout my life, my two greatest assets have been mental stability and being, like, really smart".

Michael Wolff says on NBC's "Today Show" Friday: "Where do I send a box of chocolates?"

The book includes reporting that Trump never wanted to be president, quotes from some of Trump's advisers insulting the president's intelligence and saying that he frequently repeats himself in conversation.

Wolff said Friday he had spoken to Trump since the inauguration. I thought that from the beginning this was going to be an extraordinary story in whatever way it went.

Trump's attorney has demanded a halt to publication of the book or excerpts.

Asked to clarify what he meant when he wrote that Trump's entire circle questioned his fitness for office, Wolff said, "100 percent of the people around him". Far from it. Majority of people in this country want Donald Trump investigated for the sexual assault allegations. "Smart!" the other tweet read.
