Donald Trump morally unfit to be President: Comey”

On Sunday night, ABC News aired a highly anticipated interview with former FBI Director James Comey, detailing his experience in the Trump Administration and his interactions with Donald Trump himself - before and during his presidency.

When he was still FBI chief, Comey briefed Trump on the details of a dossier - portions of which remain unconfirmed - that was commissioned as opposition research during the 2016 election and compiled by a former British intelligence agent, Christopher Steele.

"The lying about all things, large and small, in service to some code of loyalty that put the organization above morality and the truth". This assumption, Comey says, influenced his decision to send a letter to Congress in October, just before the election, in which he revealed that new emails had surfaced that "appear to be pertinent" to the FBI's closed investigation of Clinton's use of a private email server.

Of Trump's practice of not criticising Russian President Vladimir Putin, Comey said, "I don't know what's behind that".

In a statement to The Associated Press, Lynch responds to criticism from Comey in his forthcoming book that, early in the email inquiry, she had instructed him to refer to it as a "matter" rather than an "investigation". "He is morally unfit to be president".

- Comey wrote that he often wondered why, when given numerous chances to condemn Russia's invasions of its neighbours and repression, even murder, of its own citizens, Trump refused to state plain facts.

There was no reaction from Trump after the interview but his pre-emptive tweets made clear his reaction to Comey's book. "I don't remember any questions about, 'So what are they going to do next; how might we stop it?"

"I mean, it's certainly some evidence of obstruction of justice".

Comey addressed a meeting in which he briefed Trump on allegations that Russia had videotaped the future president having prostitutes urinate on each other in a Moscow hotel room: "He was very defensive and started to launch into. the list of people who had accused him of touching them improperly, sexual assault and how he hadn't done this, he hadn't done that".

Trump has denied that conversation, but Comey insisted that it definitely occurred. "I confess I stared at it pretty closely and my reaction was it must take a lot of time in the morning". Her review, headlined "James Comey Has a Story to Tell".

Trump tweeted on Sunday that he "hardly even knew this guy".

Mr Trump's moral equivalence following the racist violence in Charlottesville.

'I never asked Comey for Personal Loyalty, ' Trump said, disputing one of Comey's claims.

The retired general pleaded guilty last December and is now cooperating with special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation.

For the most part, Comey avoided commenting on the ongoing Russia investigation.

Stephanopoulos wrote that he felt like a "dupe" when he learned the truth about Mr. Clinton and Monica Lewinsky. I thought, is that an overstatement?

"I liken President Trump in the book to a forest fire". I was worried when I chose the word "dangerous" first. "Is Donald Trump unfit to be president?"

Comey is promoting a new book - and incurring Trump's wrath as he does.

And in an excerpt cited by The New York Times, he writes of the president: "His face appeared slightly orange, with bright white half-moons under his eyes where I assumed he placed small tanning goggles".
