Currently, it is only launched in China and we can most likely expect it to come to India as well. Unfortunately, the Redmi S2 misses out on 4K video recording, which is also the case with the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5. The phone is powered by 2GHz Octa-Core Snapdragon 625 14nm processor with Adreno 506 GPU. The Redmi Note 5 Pro, in addition to these configurations, has a top variant which comes with 6GB RAM and 64GB storage. Further, it will also sport a 2 GB RAM with 16 GB internal memory, and 3GB RAM with 32 GB memory and 4GB RAM with 64 GB memory. Both the variants supports expandable storage via Micro SD up to 256GB. The Redmi S2 has dual camera arrangement of 12MP+5MP sensors at the rear.

Xiaomi on Thursday launched Redmi S2, the first smartphone under its Redmi S-Series in India. Xiaomi is apparently projecting the Redmi S2 as its selfie smartphone to counter similar offerings by domestic competitors such as Huawei, Oppo, and Vivo. The highlights of Xiaomi Redmi S2 are its Dual Rear Cameras, 16MP front camera alongwith face unlock feature and 18:9 display. This setup uses AI to apparently help your portrait shots look better. The front camera also has face unlocking ability which lets you unlock your smartphone via your face. Even this camera is assisted by AI for enabling beautification in selfies. The device has been created to be selfie-centric and it also has some of the AI features that were seen earlier on the Mi 6X. The antennas see a major reshuffle in that they're seen honing a new U-shaped outline.

Smartphone Xiaomi Redmi S2 is offered in rose gold, gold and silver color options. The Redmi S2 battery capacity has been thought to be 3080mAh; it's going to allegedly weigh a hundred and seventy grams and also have measurements of 160.7×77.3×8.1mm. There's a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor as well.

The handset has a 5.99-inch FHD (1440x720) with 18:9 aspect ratio and 70.8 % NTSC colour gamut.

Ever since the exclusive launch of the Redmi 5 Plus on Jumia, Xiaomi has been quite aggressive by pushing other devices into the market, but mostly, the company targeted the low-end market.

The Xiaomi Redmi 5X will probably sport noticeably thinner bezels than the Redmi 4X, and it will utilize on-screen buttons, compared to capacitive keys that are included on the Redmi 4X. A new Xiaomi smartphone with codename "valentino" with Snapdragon 638 has been spotted on Geekbench.
